Nomex/enamel/glass covered wire
There are many choices for LV machines depending on the application type. For dry type transformers Nomex® paper or glass covered wires or enamelled wires can be used depending on the thermal class required. Nomex being a class 220 insulation it is extensively used for dry type cast resin transformers. For oil filled transformers class 200 enamelled wire is a good choice for a compact winding and its good resistance to transformer oil. Glass covered wires are also used for dry type transformers. For electromagnets a thin insulation of enamel or a layer of Nomex paper or glass covering all can be used depending on the temperature class of the machine.
